For a fantastic explanation of what Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome is, and how to explain it, please click here: Explaining Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
As for me, I’m a London born Sydney-sider
in my late 20s and I currently have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I’m nervous and excited about my first dip
in the blogging sea, and I hope that I can make a difference, however small, to
those whose lives are affected by Chronic Fatigue, and the perception of the
illness in the wider community.
My story in a nutshell:
A mystery virus kept me off school for a
whole term in my late teens. I recovered
enough to live a normal life, however some symptoms stayed around and gradually
became more persistent. As my digestion,
exhaustion and stress levels worsened, I pushed harder. I took on extra study, worked harder,
stressed harder, played harder and exercised…well, a little harder! For ten
years I felt like I was swimming against the tide, until a virus in May 2012
took hold. Then my health rapidly
deteriorated and, after that virus, I was left with a debilitating fatigue, and
a host of other health problems.
Chronic Fatigue influences my days hugely,
but its not the only thing I have. I
also have a wonderful family, some amazing friends and the hope that one day
I’ll be able to add a career, an active lifestyle and a family of my own to
that list.
